Kentucky’s Brooks Retires

Rich Brooks announced today that he will not return as Kentucky’s football coach next season. Brooks is stepping down after seven years as the team’s coach. Joker Phillips, the team’s offensive coordinator, will replace Brooks. Phillips was named the team’s coach in waiting two season ago. Brooks compiled a 39-47 record with Kentucky and recently led them the four straight bowl games. He will go down in UK history as one of their better coaches and he’s left the program...

Tennessee safety Eric Berry announced Thursday night that he will be leaving UT early for the NFL. Berry made the announcement shortly after Virgina Tech steamrolled the Vols 37-14. It what is seeming like a yearly occurrence, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt is publicly spurning  “perceived offers” from other programs. Last year it was Auburn, this year it’s Kansas. Urban Meyer’s public outrage with SEC officiating has just earned him a $30,000 fine (less than 1% of his $4 million annual salary). The fine is related to public comments made after the Georgia game regarding an alleged late non-call hit on his son-he-never-had Tim Tebow.
