Tennessee’s QB Tyler Bray sidelined with broken thumb

Tennessee’s bowl hopes (3-2) took a hit this weekend after QB Tyler Bray suffered a broken right thumb in Saturday’s loss to SEC rival Georgia 20-12. Bray broke his thumb late in the fourth quarter when his hand hit a defender’s helmet during a throw. Bray’s injury will sideline the gunslinger for at least six-weeks creating a void at the quarterback position. The Volunteers, who have yet to win a conference game, will miss Bray’s stellar services as he...

Academics hamper Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs (6-6) arrived in Memphis yesterday in preparation for the Liberty Bowl against Central Florida. Unfortunately, it was not a full flight as running back Caleb King, CB Derek Owens, and OT A.J. Harmon will not be collecting frequent flier miles because they were all deemed academically ineligible to participate in post-season play. Though King had a subpar junior campaign, being sidelined is still a significant loss for head coach Mark Richt as he is the team’s...

Auburn’s Zac Etheridge’s Road to Recovery

While Auburn continues to soar to great heights this season, far surpassing even the most ardent Auburn fan’s expectations, perhaps no one is more grateful and appreciative than Auburn safety Zac Ethridge. For Etheridge knows firsthand that although football is the game he loves and plays with a fierce and fiery passion, it is still just that, a game. When compared to something as precious as life, it is far minuscule. October 31, 2009, is a day that will forever live...

Vanderbilt’s RB Warren Norman out for 2010

Head coach Robbie Caldwell may have to update his resume after another disappointing loss in conference play. The Commodores now drop to 2-6 (1-4 in SEC play) after Arkansas took care of business this past weekend. To make matters worse, Caldwell will have to wrap up the rest of the season without his star running back Warren Norman. Norman dislocated his right wrist in the 2nd half of the teams 49-14 loss at Arkansas this past Saturday. Coach Caldwell will...
