It what is seeming like a yearly occurrence, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt is publicly spurning “perceived offers” from other programs. Last year it was Auburn, this year it’s Kansas. Nutt and Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone issued a statement after media outlets leaked info that Nutt was interested in the Kansas job.
Houston, please stop trying to shamelessly promote yourself. Nutt seems to be running a sort of personal PR campaign for himself that only makes him look foolish. You’re not a politician Houston, you’re not even that good of a football coach! Nutt, who seems to have a pretty high opinion of himself, tried pulling the same card last season when the Auburn job became available.
I don’t follow the SEC (the Big XII reigns supreme here in Texas) but Nutt is nothing more than an average coach at best. True he had Arkansas in the 2006 SEC Championship game, but we all know the outcome of that and that’s the best he’s done. It’s no coincidence that Arkansas jettisoned the coach only one season after taking the Razorbacks to the SEC title game. Ole Miss had high expectations going into the season but they only went as far as their coach would take them.
Nutt needs to just keep a lid on his mouth and stop acting like he’s bigger than he really is.
