Jim Mora enacts discipline, dismisses three Bruins

In Westwood, there is a new sheriff in town with UCLA Bruins head coach Jim L. Mora taking the reins of a once proud program. Mora stepped into the coaching spotlight when former head coach Rick Neuheisel was relieved of his duties after a four year stint with a paltry 21-28 overall record. Mora’s first act of change, dismissing three players for failing to meet the “standards that we expect every student-athlete to adhere to”. Redshirt sophomore defensive end...

UCLA, Brehaut knocked out by smash-mouth Huskies

The hits just keep on coming for UCLA. During the 3rd quarter of last night’s loss to conference foe Washington, UCLA’s QB Richard Brehaut was leveled by safety Nate Williams after Brehaut was coming in for a slide. The play resulted in a helmet-to-helmet personal foul, but more importantly it ended the night for Brehaut. Brehuat tried to continue but he was suffering from concussion like symptoms that caused the team doctor to bench the dazed QB and forced Rick...

Three’s a charm for UCLA’s Marvray and Sheller

Life is not getting any easier for the UCLA Bruins. After an embarrassing defeat against Oregon last Thursday, the school just announced two offensive players have been suspended for one game. Wide receiver Ricky Marvray and offensive tackle Sean Sheller will both miss Saturday’s game against Arizona for violating team rules. The suspension comes down as the two Bruins tested positive in their latest drug screen test. What’s even more disturbing is this is their third failed drug test...

A Prince takes a knee

Not only did UCLA get embarrassed 60-13 by Oregon this past Thursday, but the Bruins got more bad news as they learned QB Kevin Prince will miss the remainder of the season after arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Prince missed the last two Bruins’ games before undergoing surgery this Saturday to repair the meniscus in his knee. Prince’s knee continued to bother him with pain and swelling after last month’s surprise upset win over Texas and team doctors...

Three’s Company

UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel has more than enough duties with running a high-profile division 1 football program that baby sitter shouldn’t be one of them. Three of UCLA’s prized freshman recruits were arrested on felony suspicion of theft last Thursday in connection with the theft of a female student’s backpack on the Westwood campus. The contents taken in the young woman’s backpack are estimated to have a value of $1,200.00. Arrests were made after law enforcement officers observed video surveillance...

UCLA’s lack of depth at tackle helps suspended Hasiak

Either Rick Neuheisel believes in second chances or he is just in bad need of a quality offensive linemen. It’s probably the latter. Yesterday, coach Neuheisel reinstated suspended OL Stan Hasiak. The university announced that he will be immediately eligible to participate in spring practice. Last season, Hasiak was suspended in December for violating team rules. He missed his opportunity to travel with the team to D.C. for the EagleBank bowl against Temple. Since his suspension, Hasiak has been...

The Mouth of the South keeps Running

Lane Kiffin hasn’t even been USC’s head coach for 3 months, yet he’s back to running his mouth again. College football’s resident court jester has given the press plenty of fodder since his arrival at Tennessee last year and it looks like the LA media outlets will have their fair share of sound bytes from him. In a recent interview with Sporting News columnist Matt Hayes, Kiffin claimed that he would have won an SEC championship he had stayed with...

When UCLA faces off against Kansas State this weekend in the Rose Bowl, they will do so without four of their players. UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel dropped the hammer on the 4 players and suspended them for Saturday’s game for violating undisclosed team rules. Starting defensive back Courtney Viney, running back Milton Knox, and wideouts Morrell Presley and Randall Carroll are the four players that will sit out this weekend. “When you are a member of a team,...
