Richard Brehaut (#12) suffer helmet-to-helmet injury, leaves Washington game

The hits just keep on coming for UCLA. During the 3rd quarter of last night’s loss to conference foe Washington, UCLA’s QB Richard Brehaut was leveled by safety Nate Williams after Brehaut was coming in for a slide. The play resulted in a helmet-to-helmet personal foul, but more importantly it ended the night for Brehaut. Brehuat tried to continue but he was suffering from concussion like symptoms that caused the team doctor to bench the dazed QB and forced Rick Neuheisel to play 3rd string QB Darius Bell.

Bell had no luck in rallying the troops completing zero passes, aside from one INT, and rushing for 9 yards. Coach Rick Neuheisel then gave the ball to walk-on QB Clayton Tunney. He completed 2 passes in what was becoming an offensive meltown, of course one of those completions was an INT.

Before Brehaut was knocked out, the score was 7-10, completely in reach. However, after a dismal display of passing and virtually no offense, Washington literally ran away with this game gaining over 253 yards on the ground in the 24-7  dismanteling of UCLA.

It seems like an enternity since UCLA defeated then #7 Texas back in September. If the Bruins hope to make the post-season, they have two more games left to prove their worth. As it stands, the Bruins are 4-6 with only 2 conference wins with Arizona State and USC remaining.
