Three’s a charm for UCLA’s Marvray and Sheller

UCLA's WR Ricky Marvray (#10) couldn't prevent an interception.

Life is not getting any easier for the UCLA Bruins. After an embarrassing defeat against Oregon last Thursday, the school just announced two offensive players have been suspended for one game. Wide receiver Ricky Marvray and offensive tackle Sean Sheller will both miss Saturday’s game against Arizona for violating team rules.

The suspension comes down as the two Bruins tested positive in their latest drug screen test. What’s even more disturbing is this is their third failed drug test this season. Per UCLA policy, players are suspended for one game after a third failed drug test.

Perhaps Neuheisel should run a more disciplined program and change the policy to one failed drug test and you’re suspended. Last week Neuheisel suspended two players for failed drug tests. So clearly his form of discipline is not working. The fact that a player gets three shots tells me there is no incentive to stay clean with a very lenient drug policy.

UCLA is already in bad shape with the loss of QB Prince, now they will be without the services of one of their lone bright spots as Marvray amassed 141 yards and 2 TDs off of 14 receptions this season.
