UCLA’s lack of depth at tackle helps suspended Hasiak

Stan Hasiak is back on the field after being suspended in December

Either Rick Neuheisel believes in second chances or he is just in bad need of a quality offensive linemen. It’s probably the latter. Yesterday, coach Neuheisel reinstated suspended OL Stan Hasiak. The university announced that he will be immediately eligible to participate in spring practice.

Last season, Hasiak was suspended in December for violating team rules. He missed his opportunity to travel with the team to D.C. for the EagleBank bowl against Temple. Since his suspension, Hasiak has been doing everything he’s been asked to do to make up for his team rule violations. His good graces caught the attention of the school and the coaches, thus he was reinstated.

As spring practice kicks off for the Bruins, only time will tell if Hasiak will be on his best behavior for round two. As you recall, Hasiak has a bit of an attitude problem as he was suspended twice last season for his on and off-field verbal confrontations.

On a side note, the Bruins are very weak on the O-line. Tackle Su’a-Filo is gone due to his two year Mormon Mission, Kai Maiava is having academic issues, and Eddie Williams is recovering from a fractured left ankle. With the question marks left on the O-line, it’s no wonder UCLA is turning a blind eye to Hasiak’s violations.
