Kiffin's At It Again

Lane Kiffin hasn’t even been USC’s head coach for 3 months, yet he’s back to running his mouth again. College football’s resident court jester has given the press plenty of fodder since his arrival at Tennessee last year and it looks like the LA media outlets will have their fair share of sound bytes from him.

In a recent interview with Sporting News columnist Matt Hayes, Kiffin claimed that he would have won an SEC championship he had stayed with the Volunteers. Hayes asked Kiffin if he thought that he would have won the SEC if he had stayed at UT, to which Kiffin responded:  Definitely. We were definitely on that track. We were a blocked field goal away from beating the national champions on their field. We had our problems early, but we got stronger as the year progressed. We were there for a year; it was just beginning. Yet you could see where we were headed…

Kiffin’s arrogance never ceases to amaze the public. After arriving in Rock Top last year, Kiffin made his presence in the college football world known by taking several cheap shots at other conference coaches. Tensions were so high during the season that SEC commissioner Mike Slive had to intervene and threaten fines for personal attacks. It was no surprise to anyone that the fine was a direct response to Kiffin’s antics.

It’s only a matter of time until Kiffin starts going after other Pac-10 coaches. It’s already well known that Stanford’s Jim Harbaugh, UCLA’s Rick Neuheisel, and Oregon’s Chip Kelly have no qualms with stating their opinions. Kiffin better think twice before barking up the wrong tree. It’s only fitting that a school that carries the University of Spoiled Children moniker landed Lane Kiffin as their head coach. It’s a match made in heaven. You gotta love Hollywood!
