Ole Miss takes chance on Masoli

Former Oregon Duck QB Jeremiah Masoli has landed on his feet. This time, in Oxford, Mississippi. Masoli was dismissed from the Oregon Ducks following a couple of run-ins with the law earlier this summer and it looked as if his collegiate football playing days were going to end. However, Houston Nutt and the Ole Miss Rebels have come to his rescue giving Masoli a fresh start in the SEC. Masoli visited Ole Miss this past weekend and informed the...

Masoli to resurface at Ole Miss?

Don’t  look now but former Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli could end up in the SEC at Ole Miss. Life after Jevan Snead is underway in Oxford and the Rebels are heading into the 2010 season lacking depth at QB. As of now, the Rebs are carrying only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster after Raymond Cotton’s transfer was confirmed yesterday. It has been rumored that Masoli has shown interest in playing for Houston Nutt at Ole Miss, but Nutt has...

Extreme Makeover – Ole Miss

Colonel Rebel’s time at Ole Miss has come to an end. In a move to part ways with the old south image that the school has been stricken with, Ole Miss students successfully voted today that their mascot’s days must come to an end. Almost 4,000 students voted online and around 75% of the vote favored the change. Earlier this year, the KKK held a mini march on campus in opposition to the proposed change. This is the latest in a string of moves...

Tragedy Hits Oxford, MS

Another tragedy struck the SEC today. Not even 48 hours removed from the murder of Vandy recruit Rajaan Bennett, Ole Miss lost saftey Bennie Abram after collapsing during the first day of the team’s workouts. Details of Abram’s death are still coming in but school officials say that the 20 year old appeared to be having trouble shortly after the first workouts began. Ole Miss trainers called 911 and Abrams was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital North-Mississppi where he died...

Tommy Tuberville replaces the “Renaissance Man”

It looks like former Ole Miss and Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville will be back on the sidelines in 2010 as the new head coach for Texas Tech. It is no secret that Tuberville wanted to get back into coaching since he last turned in his whistle. He pretty much submitted his application to every D-1 coaching classified ad. Tuberville was an attractive option because he doesn’t have a lot of restrictions for personnel and most importantly he has no...

Houston Nutt’s Pathetic Attempt At Publicity

It what is seeming like a yearly occurrence, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt is publicly spurning  “perceived offers” from other programs. Last year it was Auburn, this year it’s Kansas. Nutt and Ole Miss athletic director Pete Boone issued a statement after media outlets leaked info that Nutt was interested in the Kansas job. Houston, please stop trying to shamelessly promote yourself. Nutt seems to be running a sort of personal PR campaign for himself that only makes him look foolish. You’re not...

Shame descends upon Ole Miss, get out if you can

In an act of stupidity, Ole Miss is allowing the Mississippi White Knigths of the KKK to stage a non-violent protest to show their distaste of the removal of “From Dixie With Love” from the band’s song selection during football games. The overweight white folks from Tunica will tailgate en masse in Oxford prior to Saturday’s game against LSU to shed light on their protest from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The administration initially warned the students to cease...
