Don’t look now but former Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli could end up in the SEC at Ole Miss. Life after Jevan Snead is underway in Oxford and the Rebels are heading into the 2010 season lacking depth at QB. As of now, the Rebs are carrying only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster after Raymond Cotton’s transfer was confirmed yesterday.
It has been rumored that Masoli has shown interest in playing for Houston Nutt at Ole Miss, but Nutt has kept his hand close to his vest and hasn’t given much attention to the topic. While Masoli would be a good fit for the Ole Miss offense, being that he’s a true dual-threat QB, it’s probably a safe bet to say that Ole Miss will pass on him.
Masoli couldn’t stay out of trouble at Oregon and was booted from the team earlier this summer after multiple arrests. While Ole Miss definitely needs to find another QB, it would seem highly unlikely that they’d look to Masoli to fill that need. However, it wouldn’t be that big of a shock if Masoli somehow ends up playing in Oxford. The Rebels have had no problem taking in other programs’ misfits.
