The NCAA has cleared Alabama’s Julio Jones and Mark Ingram to play in this weekend’s game against #7 Virginia Tech. Jones and Ingram were under investigation for participating in a fishing trip paid for by Alabama businessman Curtis Anderson earlier this year. ‘Bama’s Deaderick Shot In Arm

‘Bama defensive end Brandon Deaderick was shot in the arm during a robbery attempt in Tuscaloosa last night. The suspect, who police are still searching for, approached Deaderick in the parking lot of his apartment complex and demanded that he “give it up”. He then shot Deaderick in the arm after he refused to comply. The injury suffered is non-life threatening but Deaderick was kept in the hospital overnight for observation. Florida freshman Andre Debose may require surgery to repair a torn tendon in his hamstring. The injury is an ongoing one that Debose suffered during a Florida high school track meet this past spring. This is disheartening news to the Gators as Debose  was expected to be the playmaker on offense who would replace Percy Harvin. It looks as if Nick Saban has finally decided on a permanent place to lay his roots. Saban signed a contract extension that will keep him in Tuscaloosa until 2017.“Coach Saban has impressively led the Alabama football program back to national prominence in a short period of time,” Moore said on the school’s Web site Saturday. “This contract extension is a clear statement of our mutual commitment to building on the foundation he has established.”

The NCAA is at it again. The almighty organization is investigating whether or not a chartered fishing trip made by ‘Bama  football players, Julio Jones and RB Mark Ingram, was in violation since it was paid for by  Athens, GA business owner, Curtis Anderson. What makes the situation interesting though is the fact that  Anderson, who accompanied Jones and Ingram, suffers from degenerative disk disorder. Gathers was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and public drunkeness. The state of Georgia’s economic issues have forced UGA to implement mandatory furlough days for school employees thus affecting the coaching staff.
