It looks as if Nick Saban has finally decided on a permanent place to lay his roots. Saban signed a contract extension that will keep him in Tuscaloosa until 2017.“Coach Saban has impressively led the Alabama football program back to national prominence in a short period of time,” Moore said on the school’s Web site Saturday. “This contract extension is a clear statement of our mutual commitment to building on the foundation he has established.”
The 2008 AP Coach of the Year is entering his third season with the Crimson Tide where he’s compiled a 19-8 record. Last season, Saban led ‘Bama to a 12-2 record, a SEC West title, and a berth in the Sugar Bowl. Say what you want about him but the man is a clear winner. Bama enters the 2009-10 college season 5th in the AP poll and many are expecting them to compete with Ole Miss for the SEC West crown. Saban has taken a lot of flack for being a nomad over the years but it seems as if he’s finally found a good home.
