Georgia Bulldog coach Mark Richt, along with other members of his coaching staff will be taking some unexpected time off of work this football season. The state of Georgia’s economic issues have forced UGA to implement mandatory furlough days for school employees thus affecting the coaching staff. Coaches will have to take two furlough days in October and November.
Fans in Athens were pretty riled up that their coaches will be losing two days of preperation in the heart of football season but their anxiety was quelled when UGA president Michael Adams announced ,”… employee who would be essential on those [designated] days will have to take [another] furlough day in that particular month. It can be arranged with a supervisor.” More than likely, Richt and Co. will take one furlough day during Georgia’s bye week Oct. 24th, and they will take the other during the Thanksgiving break.
Residents of Georgia love a strong economic climate in their state, but they love a winning football program even more.
