Vanderbilt’s RB Warren Norman out for 2010

Head coach Robbie Caldwell may have to update his resume after another disappointing loss in conference play. The Commodores now drop to 2-6 (1-4 in SEC play) after Arkansas took care of business this past weekend. To make matters worse, Caldwell will have to wrap up the rest of the season without his star running back Warren Norman. Norman dislocated his right wrist in the 2nd half of the teams 49-14 loss at Arkansas this past Saturday. Coach Caldwell will...

The Hogs’ DD Jones arrested, charged with marijuana possession

Fayetteville faithful may be without defensive tackle DeQuinta “D.D.” Jones this Saturday as Arkansas hosts Vanderbilt in a conference showdown with significant bowl implications for the Razorbacks. Jones was arrested earlier today and charged with marijuana possession. Fayetteville police pulled over Jones at 12:37 a.m. for failing to have vehicle license lights. During routine questioning, the officer smelled the distinct odor of marijuana coming from Jones’ vehicle. After being asked to exit his GMC Suburban, Jones consented to a...

Bobby Johnson, Vanderbilt part ways

Less than 2 months before the season opener against Northwestern, word out in Nashville is Vanderbilt’s Bobby Johnson was forced to resign today. There are mixed reports about the reason for his resignation, but you really don’t have to look further than his record after 8 season, 29-66. His only on-the-field highlight was a 16-14 win over Boston College in the 2008 Music City Bowl. In 2009, he was 0-8 in SEC play and only managed to win 2...

Dr. Rice hits the recruiting trail

In an attempt to find harmony between academics and athletics, former Secretary of State and current Stanford political science professor, Condoleezza Rice, is taking on an additional position as a Cardinal recruiter. Dr. Rice is poised to attract top blue-chip recruits for all Stanford sports but most importantly, football. Dr. Rice is no stranger to Stanford or football and she should be a natural fit in her new position. During Dr. Rice’s Stanford years, she immediately got involved with...

Doster stunned, off the team

What is going on over at Vandy? First, the team lost a heart breaking game to Army this past weekend. Yes, the mighty SEC lost to Army. Now Vandy is dealing with another loss. Vanderbilt just announced the indefinite suspension of sophomore RB Jermaine Doster following his arrest by Nashville police the day before the Army game (Doster wasn’t on the traveling team). Coach Bobby Johnson confirmed the suspension today. Apparently, Doster was in a late night melee in...

Mullen Reinstates Langston

Head Coach Dan Mullen just announced he is reinstating JUCO transfer DE Maurice Langston just in time for the road game against Vanderbilt. If you don’t recall, Langston was suspended for a February arrest for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana (one pound to be exact), with the intent to distribute. Rather than a long drown out criminal suit, the State and Langston reached a plea agreement in which Langston was sentenced to five years probation for misdemeanor possession...

Vandy down two starters

Vandy played their hearts out in a 23-9 loss to LSU this past Saturday. Unfortunately, they got more than an “L.” It looks like starting safety Ryan Hamilton is out for the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral muscle. The Commodores also lost starting right tackle James Williams with a dislocated left ankle. Both starters plan to have surgery this week. The Commodores play host to Mississippi State this Saturday night. Both teams sport a 1-1 record.

Crippled Commodore

Vandy starting defensive end Steve Stone will be sidelined for 6 weeks with  a broken foot. Stone has been a staple on the Vanderbilt D line as he’s started every game for the ‘Dores the past two seasons. He tied for a team best sack total with 5 last season. Vandy will miss his presence on the defensive side of the ball and they’re hoping that they can have him back in time for their October 17th meeting with Georgia.
