The “U” is not welcome in Gator Country

For all you recruits, if you travel to Gainsville for any football camp, do not flash the infamous University of Miami sign with your hands. On Friday, Tavadis Glenn (6’5, 265lbs), a Miami oral commit, was attending Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp. During a practice drill, Glenn successfully covered a defensive lineman. After the play, he flashed the “U” Miami sign and taunted the player with this is “what Miami do.” A Gator’s assistant coach immediately approached Glenn and...

Rodriguez Dismisses “Next Pat White”

Today, there was another blow to Rich Rodriguez and the Michigan Wolverines. The team  announced the dismissal of Deerfield, Florida native Justin Feagin (So. 6’0, 198lbs) for a violation of team rules. Feagin was Rodriguez’s first quarterback recruit. He was anticipated to become the “next Pat White” in Rodriguez’s spread offense for his speed and agility. Last season, Feagin was moved from quarterback to defensive back to slot receiver. He only appeared in four games last year (against Purdue,...

A look at the Hilltoppers

Welcome to the Sun Belt! This will be David Elson and the Hilltoppers‘ first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Most major sporting news networks ranked the Hilltoppers to be dead last in the league. Last season, they were 111th in total offense (286.1 yds/game), 73rd in total defense (375.3 yds/game) and 111th in points allowed (27.2 points/game). With their best recruiting class ever, the Hilltoppers should improve from last season’s 2-10 mark. The Offense returns...

Lou Holtz and the fighting Irish come out of the Land of the Rising Sun victorious. The Notre Dame alumni team beat Japan 19-3 on Saturday. Japan shockingly took an early 3-0 lead in the 1st quarter but Notre Dame quickly tied it up with Scott Cengia‘s 37-yarder early in the second. Notre Dame never looked backed after JayVickers’ 77-yard run in the second quarter which landed ND in the redzone. Quarterback Tony Rice punched it in from the...

Trojans land top QB Recruit

It looks like USC lands top rated recruit Jesse Scroggin  from Lakewood, Calif. Under Armour All-American quarterback Scroggin had his pick of schools from Florida to Tennessee; however, he ended up staying close to home as he announced on ESPN his intentions to play for Pete Carroll  and the USC Trojans. Scroggins’ (6-2/189lbs) decision came down to location, family, and friends. Lakewood is a small Los Angeles community near Long Beach and Anaheim. Also, he has friends that play for USC and...

Mendenhall wants Pre-season Polls Abolished

It looks like BYU’s head coach Bronco Mendenhall is fed up with the preseason polls. Mendenhall feels that the Mountain West just doesn’t get any respect when it comes to rankings and bowl selections. During the conference’s annual media blitz, he stated, “I don’t think it is possible to pick, nor do I think, philosophically, that there ought to be any preseason polls, period.” He later suggested that “after Game 6, then possibly there is enough information to make...
