The “U” is not welcome in Gator Country

The "U"

For all you recruits, if you travel to Gainsville for any football camp, do not flash the infamous University of Miami sign with your hands. On Friday, Tavadis Glenn (6’5, 265lbs), a Miami oral commit, was attending Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp. During a practice drill, Glenn successfully covered a defensive lineman. After the play, he flashed the “U” Miami sign and taunted the player with this is “what Miami do.”

A Gator’s assistant coach immediately approached Glenn and told him to leave the camp. Glenn, at the time, did not have an offer from Meyer or the Gators, but attended camp in hopes of impressing the team and thought it would “raise his stock.” The other campers did not appreciate Glenn’s enthusiasm of the “U.”

Glenn was quoted as saying, “it was nothing like that going on,” Glenn said. “We were just getting after it. I stopped one of the big pass rushers who was beating everybody, and I was fired up.”

Glenn paid $35 to attend this camp and hopes to get a refund after being dismissed prematurely.

Glenn is no stranger to frustrating coaches, Glenn was once dismissed from his high school team during the 2008 season for “not obeying administrative rules.” When Glenn was asked if he would consider the Gators in the future, Glenn said “It’s safe to say (no).”
