Another Big 10 coach signs an extention. As reported early in the week, the extension was anticiated and today, it finally came to fruition. Illinios and Zook agree to a one year extension coming off of his subpar 5-7 mark last season. The contract extension runs through the 2013 season. However, the agreement does not include a raise in Zook’s annual $1.505 million salary.
Zook a was quoted as saying, “I am very excited that the Board and Chancellor Herman have faith in me and my staff to extend this contract,” said Zook. “This obviously shows a great commitment to the football program and its direction by the Chancellor and Coach Guenther. My family and I have enjoyed our first four years in Champaign and have appreciated all the support of the Illini Nation.”

This may not include an airplane or be as lucrative as Ferentz’s contract, but when you go 5-7, you’re not in the best position to negotiate.
