Boom days for Herron

Ohio State’s Daniel “Boom” Herron’s ankle sprain continues to haunt the star running back. As you recall, Boom suffered a high ankle sprain earlier in the season when the Buckeyes trounced the Illini back in September. Unfortunately, he missed the next game and then returned against Wisconsin. However, during his victorious efforts, he aggravated the ankle injury in the second quarter and did not return. The AD just announced that Boom will not be playing this weekend against Purdue...

Lee doubtful against Illinois

Penn State’s star LB Sean Lee is still doubtful for this Saturday’s match-up against Illinois. He is currently rehabbing his injured knee from the Temple game. Even if he gets back to 100% by Saturday, he will not be in game shape because of the long layoff. However, if Lee plays or not, it shouldn’t be too much of a concern as PSU’s defense is playing great ball considering its youth and on-going injury problems. What should concern the Nittany Lions is their...

Corp May Start for Trojans on Saturday

USC sophomore QB Aaron Corp will more than likely start in place of Matt Barkley this Saturday when USC travels to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies. The Trojans are coming off of a huge road victory against Ohio State. Matt Barkley, USC’s starting quarterback, suffered a bruised right  shoulder last weekend against the Buckeyes and it is looking as if he will not see action this week. Corp and Barkley were involved in a heated QB competition...

To Columbus And Beyond

Ohio State fans were treated to a visit from former astronaut John Glenn and his wife Annie. The two were awarded the rare honor of dotting the Ohio State Marching Band’s “i” during the halftime festivities. The Cambridge, Ohio native seemed to have a great time and was well received by the 105,000 fans. “This is great and we are enjoying it,” Glenn said. “I had to look up ‘tribble’ in the dictionary because I didn’t know that it is — the ‘dot...

Small Sickness

Ohio State’s WR Ray Small is still not on the depth chart for today’s game against the Navy Midshipmen. It was reported last night that Small, OSU’s kick returner and wide receiver, was ill and would not play in the opener. Rumors are also speculating that Small may have been kicked-off the team or left the team for repeated violations of team rules. Since he has a history of trouble under Tressel, it shouldn’t be too shocking to fans...

RoJo Breaks Clavicle

The Trojan’s took a big hit this weekend on offense. On Saturday, sure handed WR Ronald Johnson (Jr. 6’1, 185lbs.) broke his collarbone during a mock scrimmage game at the L.A. Coliseum. Johnson was slated to be the flanker and the #2 receiver behind All-American candidate Damian Williams. Pete Carroll is saying Johnson will be out for at least 6-8 weeks. Johnson was also regarded as the Trojan’s top deep threat receiver and earned returning duties on special teams....

Rise to your feet and cheer

August 26, 2009

The NCAA is encouraging the pregame handshake–which seems a bit absurd considering after the handshake you want to pulverize your opponent, but in the name of sportsmanship The Matador understands. However, The Ohio State University is taking this concept one step further. As the Buckeyes take the field against Navy on September 5th, 2009 at The Shoe, fans are encouraged to “rise to your feet and cheer” the Midshipmen.
