USC sophomore QB Aaron Corp will more than likely start in place of Matt Barkley this Saturday when USC travels to Seattle to take on the Washington Huskies. The Trojans are coming off of a huge road victory against Ohio State. Matt Barkley, USC’s starting quarterback, suffered a bruised right shoulder last weekend against the Buckeyes and it is looking as if he will not see action this week.
Corp and Barkley were involved in a heated QB competition this off season and Corp at one point had taken the lead in the race. An injury to Corp allowed Barkley to have the edge at the starting job.
Corp served as a backup last season and completed 2 passes for 14 yards. ‘SC coach Pete Carroll has full confidence that Corp will step-up and lead against Washington. “He’s taken over just like he had done in the spring time,” Coach Pete Carroll said of Corp, “and so it feels comfortable to us having him get ready.” Washington has been impressive this season under Steve Sarkisian and there’s no doubt that Corp will be tested should he get the start.
