CB Baucham out after car accident

This has been a tough week for Pete Carroll as he has been constantly shuffling the team’s depth chart for Saturday’s match-up against Washington. All week there has been question as to whether or not QB Matt Barkley is healthy enough to play. Now it looks like freshman CB Brian Baucham will be forced to sit out after suffering minor injuries in a motor vehicle accident this morning. Bauchman was on his way to school when he was involved...

I don’t see a punch

The Matador is a bit perplexed why the media is all over the Michigan punch. If you haven’t seen the video yet, please watch. I’m positive you will not see any punch at first glance. The media is trying to hype this up as the second coming of the Blount Punch. The Matador is trying to cool it down. Rodriguez’s comment on Jonas Mouton’s alleged punch was quite simple, basically he didn’t see LB Mouton punch ND’s Eric Olsen. In...

Does Bo know?

First, Quentin Castille was dismissed for violating team rules, now, Nebraska RB Collins Okafor has decided to part ways from the program. On Wednesday, coach Bo Pelini informed the media that Okafor left the team on his own accord. It is presumed, that Okafor left because he was deep in the depth chart behind junior fan favorite Roy Helu an frosh sensation Rex Burkhead. Okafor did not speak of his intentions, but for Pelini, this is his second back...

It’s getting Wazzu in Pullman

First, Lopina gets demoted straight to the bench. Now, star wide receiver Jeshua Anderson is trading in his football cleats for his track spikes. Anderson was one of the bright spots on the somewhat anemic Cougars’ offense. Anderson boasted 4 receptions for 66 yards. Not Heisman material, but something Wulff could work with. The good news is, you haven’t heard or seen the last of Anderson. Anderson is no Usain Bolt, but the junior is a two time NCAA...

Mullen Reinstates Langston

Head Coach Dan Mullen just announced he is reinstating JUCO transfer DE Maurice Langston just in time for the road game against Vanderbilt. If you don’t recall, Langston was suspended for a February arrest for possession of a controlled substance, marijuana (one pound to be exact), with the intent to distribute. Rather than a long drown out criminal suit, the State and Langston reached a plea agreement in which Langston was sentenced to five years probation for misdemeanor possession...

QB Lopina fed to the Wulff

In an attempt to win a game, Coach Paul Wulff continues to shuffle his lineup. The most recent victim was senior QB Kevin Lopina (6’3, 228 lbs.). To replace the senior QB is redshirt sophomore Marshall Lobbestael who, if you’re from the Washington area, will recall was the 2006 Class 4A Player of the Year by the associated press and Seattle Times. Hopefully, Lobbestael’s presence will spark a somewhat ineffective offense and wake-up the loyal fans at Martin Stadium....

Penn State lands one of the nations top fullbacks in Zach Zwinak (#1 according to Rivals.com). Zwinak (6’2, 230 lbs.), who hails from Frederick, Maryland a hot-bed for PSU recruiters, turned down offers from top programs such as Virginia Tech, UNC, Michigan, Stanford, California, and Boston College, to sport the blue and white. Zwinak said he particularly liked the HD spread offense and the two-back formation at PSU.  Joe Paterno is a legend when it comes to convincing athletes...

Jones Sports the Chevron

A couple of weeks ago, no one in our around Norman, Oklahoma knew of QB Landry Jones. Ever since he was thrown into the spotlight upon Heisman candidate Sam Bradford going down, he has become a star and fan favorite in Norman. This fan following may not be so much from his execution on the field but rather from his ungodly chevron mustache which has reached celebrity status. His teammates poke fun at him, as TE Brody Eldridge calls him “Doc Holliday ”and Quarterback Sam Bradford jabs that “it’s not very...
