I don’t see a punch

The Matador is a bit perplexed why the media is all over the Michigan punch. If you haven’t seen the video yet, please watch. I’m positive you will not see any punch at first glance. The media is trying to hype this up as the second coming of the Blount Punch. The Matador is trying to cool it down.

Rodriguez’s comment on Jonas Mouton’s alleged punch was quite simple, basically he didn’t see LB Mouton punch ND’s Eric Olsen. In fact, neither did the refs nor the NCAA. That’s not to say it didn’t occur, but it does point to the credibility and severity of the alleged incident.

Of course, Charlie Weis is in such an upheaval about the officiating, that he sent a strongly worded letter with video tape evidence to the Big Ten officiating offices to question all the “bad” calls to include the punch to the face. The Big Ten responded to Weis, but the response is being held under lock and key.

Now from a player’s perspective, if there was an actual punch, don’t you think that a player would have punched back or at least confronted his aggressor? None of that happened. If anything, it is more incidental rather than anything else. Just look at Mouton’s and Olsen’s reaction after the play. They both just carried on. That’s not a sign of being punched.

My advice to Weis, please spend more time criticizing your terrible offensive play calling rather than harping on the zebras officiating the game.
