The Riverboat Gambler’s Final Hand

Three years removed from winning his first and only BCS National Championship, LSU skipper Les Miles could be entering his last season as head coach of the Tigers. Miles assumed head coaching duties on January 3, 2005, when current Alabama head coach Nick Saban bolted Baton Rouge to try his hand in the NFL. Miles got off to a red-hot start by going 11-2 in his first season as head coach and earned a trip to Atlanta to represent...

Clarett returns to where it all began

After serving a 3.5 year prison stint in Toledo, Ohio, Fiesta Bowl hero Maurice Clarett re-enrolled on Monday at The Ohio State University to pursue his degree in criminology. Though Clarett said in a statement that he does not want to be a “distraction or nuisance” to the football team or university, he has to know he certainly will. At the very least, there is an ex-con roaming around campus who was busted for carrying a concealed weapon and...

Jacory Harris is all thumbs up

Six months after surgery, Miami’s QB Jacory Harris is still recovering from the torn ligament damage sustained last season in his throwing hand. A confident Harris spoke to the media yesterday and reiterated that he will be ready for the September 2nd season opener despite missing all of spring practice and only throwing on a limited reps basis. Fortunately for the Canes, Miami opens the season with Florida A&M, a game in which Harris will not even see the...

Lane Kiffin did the right thing today by releasing Seantrel Henderson from his national letter of intent with USC. During the recruiting process, the highly sought after high school star had reservations about signing with USC because of the NCAA’s pending investigation during the Carroll days. Henderson was told that USC would not face harsh penalties which ultimately led to his signing with the Trojans. As we all know, the gauntlet fell on Troy which caused Henderson to get...

Carter heads to Coffeyville

Former Ohio State WR Duron Carter (son of NFL great Chris Carter)  is headed to Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, KS. Carter, a freshman last season, played in ten games for the Buckeyes and accumulated 176 yards and 1 touchdown on 13 receptions. While Carter produced sporadically on the field, his production in the classroom slipped. He was ruled academically ineligible for Ohio State’s 2010 Citi Rose Bowl Game matchup against the Oregon Ducks and missed all of OSU’s...

Braxton’s a Buckeye

Braxton Miller, arguably the best QB recruit in the 2011 class, announced this week that he’s headed to Ohio State. The 6’2, 185 lb signal caller from Huber Heights, Ohio, was heavily sought after by Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, and a plethora of other elite Division 1 programs. Some recruiting experts are calling Miller the best QB recruit the Buckeyes have had in the past 10 years. While current Ohio State trigger man Terrelle Pryor was the most hyped...

The Price is wrong for Penn State

The attrition rate at Penn State seems to be growing for the Nittany Lion’s WR corp. First, Levi Norwood departed the team earlier this year to be closer to his family at Baylor. Now, it looks like A.J. Price, a Northern Virginia native, was just granted his release from the team with the intentions of transferring to the University of Virginia under head coach Mike London. Though the Nittany Lions will not feel the effect of these two departures...
