Pitt wins low scoring game

Greetings fellow gamblers. Last week’s lock failed me as Air Force failed to cover taking me to a terrible 1-2 for the year. It’s ok though because we have a lot of games left to make up for lost money. This week’s lock comes to you on a Friday. The Pittsburgh Panthers (3-1) are traveling to Kentucky to face off against Louisville (1-2) and are favored by 6. Now as you know, Dave Wannstedt is all about defense and Lousiville isn’t...

The Express finally honored

In 1961, Ernest “Ernie” Davis became the first African-American to win the Heisman Memorial Trophy. 48 years later, Syracuse finally decides to honor Davis by naming the Carrier Dome’s field the “Ernie Davis Legends Field.” A dedication ceremony will take place during the halftime show of the West Virginia game on October 10th. Although Davis never played in the Carrier Dome (because it wasn’t opened until 1979), the school wants fans and players to always remember one of the...

It’s too late to apologize

So here it is, Blount’s official apology: By LeGarrette Blount | University running back Though the incident at Boise State happened before the start of classes, there probably are few members of our University community who are unaware of the images and media reports of my regrettable actions following the Oregon-Boise State football game. There is no justification for my behavior — not the “heat of the moment,” not the “agony of defeat,” and definitely not anything said or...

Coach tweets surgical procedure

It is clear the times are changing. Yesterday, Kentucky’s head coach Rich Brooks went through a serious surgical procedure to remove skin cancer from his lower leg. Rather than having the AD or the University release an official statement, Brooks decided to inform the world in an unconventional way, through a tweet: Had a skin cancer cut out of my lower leg. Old age is not much fun. Planed tomorrow’s practice and we will have most of our guys back.about 21 hours...

One hand, one scholarship

As my readers are aware, this site is 100% dedicated to college football, but every now and then, I will break the plane and touch base on other sports. So with that, a well deserved round of applause goes out to star basketball player Kevin Laue (rhymes with “pow”). Kevin Laue is a 6’11 center from Pleasanton, California. He is about to embark on a difficult journey of playing D-1 NCAA basketball for Manhattan College. Not only does he have...

Gresham wants to get paid

Oklahoma’s star TE Jermaine Gresham had the opportunity to be a first round draft pick during the 2009 NFL draft but just as Sam Bradford, he opted to pass on the draft and play his senior season with the Sooners. In an all to common story, Gresham was injured before his season really began and underwent season ending right knee surgery to repair torn cartilage. It is anticipated that Gresham will fully recover and he should be back on...

Lee doubtful against Illinois

Penn State’s star LB Sean Lee is still doubtful for this Saturday’s match-up against Illinois. He is currently rehabbing his injured knee from the Temple game. Even if he gets back to 100% by Saturday, he will not be in game shape because of the long layoff. However, if Lee plays or not, it shouldn’t be too much of a concern as PSU’s defense is playing great ball considering its youth and on-going injury problems. What should concern the Nittany Lions is their...

DE McKinley got served

Coach Tim Brewster just announced today the immediate suspension of two Gophers’ football players. Starting senior DE Cedric McKinley and sophomore back-up DB Tim Dandridge are both facing two game suspensions. The exact cause of the suspensions, you guessed it, violation of team rules. The suspension of McKinley serves as the biggest concern as he is a key impact defensive player who had a strong game in the Gophers 35-24 victory over Northwestern to open Big 10 play. Most notably, he sacked Kafka in...
