Oklahoma’s star TE Jermaine Gresham had the opportunity to be a first round draft pick during the 2009 NFL draft but just as Sam Bradford, he opted to pass on the draft and play his senior season with the Sooners. In an all to common story, Gresham was injured before his season really began and underwent season ending right knee surgery to repair torn cartilage.
It is anticipated that Gresham will fully recover and he should be back on the gridiron at 100%. This time, Gresham will forgo his medical redshirt and enter the 2010 NFL draft. Perhaps Gresham and Bradford should have both passed on their senior season and entered the 2009 draft. You can always go back to school and graduate, but you only can be a 1st round draft pick once.
Let this be a lesson to you star juniors, enter the NFL draft if you have the chance.
