The good times came to a quick end for Steve Kragthorpe

The unemployment rate in Louisville just increased by one today as Louisville fired head coach Steve Kragthorpe. This should come as no surprise seeing how Louisville finished the season with a 4-8 record after taking a beating against Rutgers 34-14 this past weekend.

Kragthorpe lead the team to its worst season in over a decade and had a paltry 15-21 record in his three seasons after taking control upon the departure of Bobby Petrino in 2007. Kragthorpe may not have come out of this with any bowl appearances but he does walk away with his $2.2 million buyout.

Coaches already on the short list include Houston’s Kevin Sumlin, Florida’s DC Charlie Strong, and Tennessee legend Phil Fulmer.
