In return for Charlie Strong and the Louisville Cardinals dismantling the Florida Gators 33-23 in the 2013 All-State Sugar Bowl, the university is rewarding the head coach handsomely. Louisville’s star CB Johnny Patrick was reminded today that you never argue with your girlfriend even if you know you are right. Back on June 27th, Patrick’s girlfriend slipped and fell while struggling to grab his cell phone to see his text messages. As a result of the fall, she hit a table injuring her knees and elbows. The unemployment rate in Louisville just increased by one today as Louisville fired head coach Steve Kragthorpe. This should come as no surprise seeing how Louisville finished the season with a 4-8 record after taking a beating against Rutgers 34-14 this past weekend. Kragthorpe lead the team to its worst season in over a decade and had a paltry 15-21 record in his three seasons after taking control upon the departure of Bobby Petrino in 2007. Memphis is accepting resumes

In the wake of Memphis’ Tommy West’s departure, potential head coach replacements have already been named in Tommy Tuberville and Terry Bowden. Tuberville and Bowden are the front-runners for the position. Tuberville’s resume includes the former head coaching job at Auburn. Meanwhile, Bowden is the current coach at Div. II North Alabama. Others being considered are Auburn’s offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, LSU’s assistant Larry Porter, and Florida’s defensive coordinator Charlie Strong. Unfortunately, The Matador is not under consideration.
