Eric LeGrand Rises Tall

In true inspirational fashion, Rutgers defensive lineman Eric LeGrand tweeted pictures of himself standing upright with his mother earlier this week. When LeGrand fractured his C3 and C4 vertebrae back in October, being paralyzed from the neck down, doctors thought he would never come off ventilators let alone walk again. LeGrand quickly defied the odds by being removed from ventilators shortly after the paralyzing hit and is now standing tall. With sheer faith and uncanny determination, LeGrand is sending...

Eric LeGrand makes first public appearance

Last fall Rutgers University football player Eric LeGrand was paralyzed after making a tackle on special teams against Army. After four months of therapy and rehab, he made his first public appearance at the Laugh to Heal Comedy Fest Fundraiser for the Eric LeGrand Believe Fund. The fundraiser featured seven comedians and thousands of supporters to include Rutgers alum Bill Bellamy. When LeGrand inspirationally entered the Rutgers Athletic Center on Saturday in a motorized wheelchair, 3,000 supporters rose to...

The Big (East) Debacle

The Big East continues to sink further into the depths of irrelevance and the calls for the conference to lose its automatic qualifying bid grow louder and louder. As we are well into the college football season, there is no Big East team in the Top 25. The conference has failed miserably in its non-conference play boasting a combined record of 19-14, average at best. However, when you consider 9 out of the 19 wins came against DI-AA teams,...

Kragthorpe gets the boot

The unemployment rate in Louisville just increased by one today as Louisville fired head coach Steve Kragthorpe. This should come as no surprise seeing how Louisville finished the season with a 4-8 record after taking a beating against Rutgers 34-14 this past weekend. Kragthorpe lead the team to its worst season in over a decade and had a paltry 15-21 record in his three seasons after taking control upon the departure of Bobby Petrino in 2007. Kragthorpe may not...

Tom replaces Dom

In an attempt to save the face of the program, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is benching Dom Natale, and will start true freshman Tom Savage as quarterback. Against Cincinnati, Natale, a 5th year senior, went 8 for 12 with 3 INTs in the first half compared to Savage, who played the 2nd half, and went 15 for 23 with 1 TD and 0 INTs. Rutgers’ next two games are against Howard and Texas Southern, both of which will be...

Time Ticking for Rutgers and Darrell Givens

Darrell Givens, a star Maryland  high school cornerback and Rutgers recruit,  is still awaiting word from Rutgers officials about his admission to the New Jersey school. The issue delaying the admissions process is with Givens’s high school transcripts from Friendly (MD) HS.  Givens had initially signed a letter of intent to play for Penn State earlier this year but the school withdrew its offer earlier this week, which was a surprise to him. Givens’s high school coach, Doug Lamb,...

Army adds more games at Yankee Stadium

According to ESPN, Army has agreed to play three more football games in Yankee stadium in addition to the Notre Dame game scheduled for the fall of 2010. As of now, Army will host Rutgers in 2011, Air Force in 2012, and Boston College in 2014. This is exciting news for the college football community as it is reminiscent of the old tradition of gridiron in Yankee Stadium.
