Houston football coach Kevin Sumlin received a late Christmas gift earlier this week. Fresh off the heels of one of Houston’s best football seasons, Sumlin was awarded a contract extension that will keep him at Houston through the 2015 season. The contract still must be approved by the Texas Board of Regents, but barring any unexpected setbacks, the deal should be made official on Monday. The unemployment rate in Louisville just increased by one today as Louisville fired head coach Steve Kragthorpe. This should come as no surprise seeing how Louisville finished the season with a 4-8 record after taking a beating against Rutgers 34-14 this past weekend. Kragthorpe lead the team to its worst season in over a decade and had a paltry 15-21 record in his three seasons after taking control upon the departure of Bobby Petrino in 2007.
