The Season is Here

The moment that college football fans have been waiting all year for has finally arrived. Today marks the official kickoff of the 2009-2010 college football season as the North Carolina State Wolfpack host the South Carolina Gamecocks at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN. Fans from Pullman, WA, to Piscataway, NJ, will be wearing their school colors with a little more pride than usual starting today.

119 Division 1 teams are starting fresh with the hopes of playing on January 7, 2010, in the BCS National Championship in Pasadena, California. Numerous story plots surround this season which will make for entertaining and exciting 4 months. New coaching regimes at Oregon, TennesseeMississippi State, Auburn, Army,Washington and Kansas State have been established and fanbases have been rejuvenated. Meanwhile, fans in South Bend, Madison, Boulder, Charlottesville, and College Station will be logging into www.FireWeis/Bielema/Hawkins/Groh/Sherman.com by week 3 if they’re not satisfied with the progress of their teams.

There are many new faces that will be household names by the end of the season. One of two quarterbacks may have the opportunity to become the first 2 time Heisman Trophy winner since Archie Griffin, and one has the chance to go down in history as college football’s greatest player.USC will start its first ever true freshman at quarterback. This time last year he was renting a tuxedo for the Sadie Hawkins dance, now he’s going to be performing on one of college football’s biggest stages. A new coach will be roaming the sidelines at West Point while a coach in Annapolis will try to continue the winning tradition at Navy.

Regardless of where your allegiance lies, we all can admit to being avid fans of college football. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the 4 month ride you’re about to go on. Best of luck to your team and we’ll see you in Pasadena.
