Bowman’s A Go

Penn State received good news yesterday with LB Navorro Bowman getting the ok to play in this Saturday’s showdown with Iowa. He practiced with the team on Tuesday and participated in non-contact drills without a problem. Bowman led Penn State with 106 tackles last season and was selected as  a 1st team all Big-Ten LB. The junior has missed Penn State’s last 2 games with a groin injury suffered against Akron. PSU’s linebacking corp has taken a hit recently with Bowman and...

Panic for Penn State

Penn State’s star linebacker Sean Lee sprained his knee in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Temple. Lee stayed in the game until the fourth quarter but left favoring his left knee. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting that Lee is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s prime time showdown against Iowa, and it’s possible that he may be out for at least 2 weeks. Lee has been a dominant force on Penn State’s defense this season and was just named the...

Mouton Suspend for the Punch

The Matador just learned that the Big Ten conference is suspending Michigan’s Jonas Mouton for the punch that never occurred. Mouton allegedly punched the chin of lineman Eric Olson after the end of a play during the second quarter of the Michigan/Notre Dame game. The punishment, which is completely unwarranted, is for one game. Fortunately, this suspension will not really hurt the Wolverines as they face the perennial powerhouse Eastern Michigan Eagles this Saturday.  This tells me that the...

I don’t see a punch

September 17, 2009

The Matador is a bit perplexed why the media is all over the Michigan punch. If you haven’t seen the video yet, please watch. I’m positive you will not see any punch at first glance. The media is trying to hype this up as the second coming of the Blount Punch. The Matador is trying to cool it down. Rodriguez’s comment on Jonas Mouton’s alleged punch was quite simple, basically he didn’t see LB Mouton punch ND’s Eric Olsen. In...

PSU lands top FB

Penn State lands one of the nations top fullbacks in Zach Zwinak (#1 according to Rivals.com). Zwinak (6’2, 230 lbs.), who hails from Frederick, Maryland a hot-bed for PSU recruiters, turned down offers from top programs such as Virginia Tech, UNC, Michigan, Stanford, California, and Boston College, to sport the blue and white. Zwinak said he particularly liked the HD spread offense and the two-back formation at PSU.  Joe Paterno is a legend when it comes to convincing athletes...

LB Bowman sits against the Orange

Linebacker U will be without one of the best LBs in the nation in Navorro Bowman. Bowman suffered a groin injury early in the season opener against Akron. For precautionary reasons, JoePa is going to sideline the stud LB and start redshirt sophomore Nathan Stupar. Whichever LB is plugged-in to fill the void, playing against Syracuse won’t make much of a difference. The Orange don’t have enough firepower on offense to make a dent in the strong Nittany Lions...

Hubert is Insane

Former Michigan State Spartan Hubert Thompson was just declared insane by an Illinois judge. On March 30, 2007, Thompson lost a screw and threw his 66 year old neighbor, James Malone, off of the 3rd floor apartment balcony because he thought Malone was trying to kill him. As a result of the fall, Malone died. Thompson was charged with murder and after a long trial was found not guilty by reason of insanity. Thompson will still be punished and...

To Columbus And Beyond

Ohio State fans were treated to a visit from former astronaut John Glenn and his wife Annie. The two were awarded the rare honor of dotting the Ohio State Marching Band’s “i” during the halftime festivities. The Cambridge, Ohio native seemed to have a great time and was well received by the 105,000 fans. “This is great and we are enjoying it,” Glenn said. “I had to look up ‘tribble’ in the dictionary because I didn’t know that it is — the ‘dot...
