Dorsey goes Kimbo Slice on his ex-girlfriend

On Tuesday night after a lover’s quarrel, Texas A&M DL Adren Dorsey was arrested for assaulting his ex girlfriend outside the student rec center. According to the university police report, the Kimbo Slice look-a-like put his hands around his ex-girlfriend’s neck, lifted her to the ground, and then slammed her onto the trunk of his car. In Dorsey’s defense, the ex placed her hand in his face first and pushed him away which instigated the beat down. As a result,...

OU didn’t steal my signs

The mighty Ducks personnel cannot just accept the fact that Ohio State totally dominated the Ducks in the Rose Bowl. The Ducks’ offensive coordinator, Mark Helfrich, is suggesting that some of the team’s signals were compromised during “The Granddaddy of Them All.” Rather than taking the 26-17 defeat like a man, in true American fashion, Helfrich is blaming someone else for his offense’s poor performance (Masoli only completed 9 out of 20 passes for 81 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT)....

The Gophers catch a bad break

It looks like Minnesota’s secondary suffered a bad break this week. Junior safety Kim Royston broke his left leg during Tuesday’s practice when the team was running 7-on-7 drills. Doctors confirmed that he sustained a compound fracture in his lower leg. Royston will undergo a second round of surgery on Thursday which will sideline him indefinitely. The good news is coach Tim Brewster has faith that Royston will fully recover by fall training camp. As of now, the secondary...

Do you really want more Pizza! Pizza!?

The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl confirmed where it ranks as one of the lowest tiered bowl games possible. The organizers have come to an agreement with the Big 10 and Mid-American conference (MAC) for the next four bowl seasons. Presumably to build up anticipation, the committee announced that the bowl game will feature the Big 10 8th seed (No. 8 Big 10 bowl eligible team) against either the No. 1 MAC or No. 2 MAC team. This match-up clearly...

Wildcat limp

Leadership in Manhattan, Kansas recently took a big fall. Kansas State’s second term head coach Bill Snyder tore his ACL and MCL during spring practice on Thursday. The 70 year old ball coach was standing in the direct path of DT Prizzell Brown and OL Ethan Douglas when they were wrestling each other to the ground during a tackling drill. As a result, about 600 pounds came tumbling onto Snyder’s right knee causing the tear. Snyder tried to keep his injury hush-hush,...

The ghost of Barry Switzer seems to be cursing athletes in Norman, Oklahoma. Switzer’s ghost continues to haunt left tackle Donald Stephenson. Stephenson, who was slated to be in the starting rotation for 2010, was picked-up this past weekend for an outstanding municipal warrant. With his second arrest in less than one year, his days on the playing field could be in jeopardy. At approximately 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10th, Stephenson was pulled over on East Norman Street for failing...

Wisconsin goes anti-sweatshop, drops Nike

Though Nike Inc. has a very minor position in licensing the University of Wisconsin’s logos and trademarks, the school is officially terminating its agreement with the corporate giant because of its questionable employment practices.  Specifically, the university is displeased with Nike’s treatment of its workers in Honduras where Wisconsin apparel is fabricated. Chancellor Biddy Martin has made it clear that Nike is not doing enough to help its workers in Honduras who have been displaced after the abrupt closing...

Stephens’ Volatile Move

Today was no ordinary day for once anticipated starting QB Nick Stephens. Just last week, Stephens assumed he would be the starting QB, the big man on campus, and hopefully lead the Vols to an SEC championship. Unfortunately, he just woke up from this fantasy dream. Tennessee’s new head coach, Derek Dooley, announced yesterday that Nick Stephens was no longer a Vol. Last week, Stephens was slated to be the Vols starting QB with Matt Simms as the understudy. However, after a poor scrimmage, coach Dooley decided...
