OU didn’t steal my signs

The Ducks clearly got out played and out classed in the Rose Bowl. Can you really say the Ducks signals were compromised, I think not.

The mighty Ducks personnel cannot just accept the fact that Ohio State totally dominated the Ducks in the Rose Bowl. The Ducks’ offensive coordinator, Mark Helfrich, is suggesting that some of the team’s signals were compromised during “The Granddaddy of Them All.” Rather than taking the 26-17 defeat like a man, in true American fashion, Helfrich is blaming someone else for his offense’s poor performance (Masoli only completed 9 out of 20 passes for 81 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT).

To curb any thoughts of signs being stolen and to avoid any questions about opposing defense’s stealing signs during game play, the Ducks are implementing a new system of signaling. The team will utilize huge poster-board placards containing images such as a shamrock, planet earth, and Shaq Diesel. From an untrained eye, these imagines will have no meaning, but to the play callers, it will be quick to read and easy to decipher.

It is no joke to have your signals compromised, but Helfrich and company are just transferring blame from the real obvious problem, lack of any accountability. From the moment LeGarrette Blount sucker punched a Boise State player, the school’s image took a nose dive. The school is dealing with uncontrollable players with no discipline. Star QB Jeremiah Masoli and RB LaMichael James were out chased and charged with burglary. Kicker Rob Beard and Mike Bowlin were injured in off-the-field scuffles. WR Jamere Holland got the boot for lambasting Coach Kelly on Facebook. I mean the list goes on and on.

It is clear there is no discipline on this team and the players are out of control. So this message is to you coach Kelly and Helfrich, the placards aren’t going to help your offense, a good kick in the butt and a little discipline should align this program and get them back on track as the team has the talent and depth to take the Pac-10.
