Meyer gets a New Deal

It looks like Urban Meyer has put to rest the question and rumor of whether or not he will leave Florida to coach at Notre Dame next season or in the near future. Meyer just signed a 6 year deal  worth approximately $4 million per year. He will remain head coach and under the new deal will also be the co-chairman of a university scholarship program in which he already committed $1 million during his tenure. The program was created by school president...

Jock Sanders is back as a Mountaineer

West Virginia coach Bill Stewart has reinstated WR Jock Sanders (So. 5’7, 174 lbs.) just in time for camp. This past February, Sanders was suspended for DUI charges. However, in July Coach Stewart allowed Sanders to work with the team in anticipation of Sanders’ completing his off the field expectations to include an alcohol awareness course, talking to students about the dangers of drinking and driving, and have a lock installed on his vehicle’s ignition for a set period of time....

McMackin faces 30 day Suspension

In an attempt to make right, Hawaii’s coach Greg McMackin faces a 30 day suspension without pay and has volunteered to take an additional 7 percent pay cut from his $1.1 million salary for making his “little faggot dance” comment when rehashing the pregame events before last year’s Hawaii Bowl. Notre Dame was upset with the comments, “Coach McMackin demonstrated poor judgment when, while making comments critical of our football program, he used a derogatory word,” Weis said. But...

UConn to help dedicate the Big House in 2010

As you know, Michigan’s Big House is still being renovated and should be completed by the 2010 season. There has been a lot of speculation as to who will help christen the renovated stadium. It looks like the rumor is out and UConn will get the nod. This will be a great Big 10 v. Big East match-up to open the biggest stadium in college football. Well done Wolverines and Huskies.

Fan Mail Regarding Penn State

Joe Paterno 383-126-3 Matador, love the site! Do you think PSU will win at least 10 games this season? A Fan Thank you for the question. Now I’m not saying PSU will go undefeated, but the team has the balance, depth, and senior leadership to repeat as Big 10 champs and possibly go 12-0 this season.  Most of the sports books have the over/under on PSU at 9.5 (I’m assuming this is why you are asking your question). Based on...

Broderick Green will play this Season

I’m not sure who Broderick Green knows, but he pulled off a miracle in transferring from USC to Arkansas without having to sit out a year. Back in November, he announced he was going to transfer to Arkansas to be closer to his ailing maternal grandmother. Generally, if you transfer from one D1 school to another, you have to sit out for one year. Green appealed to the NCAA to be exempt from this provision. Fortunately, the NCAA just...
