Bobby Bowden goes to bat for Sammie Smith

Bobby Bowden may not be coaching the Seminoles anymore, but he is certainly going to step up to the plate when his alums are in need. This was seen when former Florida State RB Sammie Smith wanted to restore his civil rights after serving his prison sentence. In Florida, convicted felons cannot vote or own a weapon unless the individual gets a full or conditional pardon from the Clemency Board. So after 7 years behind bars for a federal...

Star Jackson signs with the Panthers

It’s official: former Alabama quarterback Star Jackson transferred to Georgia State earlier this week and will be a part of the Panthers’ inaugural football season. Even though the redshirt freshman saw some playing time last season with the Tide, he figured he wouldn’t see the field too much with McElroy calling the shots for the defending national champs. Since Jackson transferred to a championship subdivision team he is not required to sit out the 2010 season. It’s not a...

Niles Paul picked up for urinating in public

The Nebraska faithful have reason to worry as their top receiver can’t seem to stay out of trouble. This past weekend, senior WR Niles Paul was picked up for possession of alcohol by a minor and urinating in public in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. Some time around 1:23 a.m. on Friday morning a police officer spotted Paul, who reeked of alcohol, urinating on a fence near Centennial Mall. The officer tested Paul who blew a .104. He was immediately arrested,...

5 star recruit Jerimy Finch has decided to leave another D-1 program. The heralded recruit from Indiana first headed to Florida, after decommitting from Michigan and Indiana. As a Gator, Finch played outside linebacker but suffered a terrible knee injury after an interception in the Tennessee game. The injury sidelined Finch for the rest of the 2007 season. The injury certainly had a lasting effect as his grades declined and his morale with it. After playing one season with...

Locker stays true to football

The Huskies have high expectations in 2010, and the fans got an early gift from their star quarterback that shows football is priority number one. QB Jake Locker is putting his passion before money. The Washington Huskies star QB and potential #1 NFL draft pick in 2011, is exclusively going to focus on football this summer and will not train with the MLB’s Angels as originally planned. Angels’ GM Tony Reagins was under the impression that Locker would play...

The Price is wrong for Penn State

The attrition rate at Penn State seems to be growing for the Nittany Lion’s WR corp. First, Levi Norwood departed the team earlier this year to be closer to his family at Baylor. Now, it looks like A.J. Price, a Northern Virginia native, was just granted his release from the team with the intentions of transferring to the University of Virginia under head coach Mike London. Though the Nittany Lions will not feel the effect of these two departures...

Auburn’s backfield got trimmed this weekend with the surprising dismissal of redshirt freshman Dontae Aycock. The RB was a Florida 5-A high school QB and top prospect by most major rating services. The 5’10 218 pound athlete played RB during spring practice and was set to fall into the Tigers’ backfield rotation. The university announced that Aycock was dismissed from the program for violating team rules. Though the school did not provide further comment, there is speculation that prior to...

Aztecs set to receive big payday from Michigan

San Diego State just sold its soul for a shade over $1 million dollars. The Aztecs agreed to travel to Ann Arbor to play the Michigan Wolverines in 2011. To date, this will be the largest payout in Aztecs history and will certainly cover a significant portion of the school’s football expenses. It is no secret that the Aztecs have had financial difficulties in the last few seasons and were aggressively seeking a big payday. The AD would have...
