Holder lets go of Jones’ money

The mantra “Greed is Good” does not apply to Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder. Apparently, Jerry Jones was pushing for the Oklahoma State v. Georgia match-up to be played at the new Cowboy Stadium. Holder turned it down along with an additional $6 million. In commenting, Holder wanted his team to have a true home field advantage and opted to play the high profile game at Stillwater. He did it for the team, the fans, and for the...

The Matador’s Muse

As we kick-off the college football season this Saturday, The Matador wants to highlight what’s going on around the college football Nation. Keep an eye on Georgia’s QB Cox as he is suffering from flu like symptoms and traveled separately from the team, but is still probable to start. Georgia v. Oklahoma State

Dr. Bob breaksdown Georgia at Oklahoma St. Saturday, Sep-05 3:30 PM (EST) Favorite: Oklahoma St. -4.5 Total: 61.5 Georgia entered last season as the nation’s #1 rated team, which was higher than my rating of the Bulldogs as the 8th best team in the nation prior to last season. The good news is Lemon still has his red-shirt which allows him to return for the 2010 season. To fill the gap in Lemon’s absence is senior LB Donald Booker. Booker...

Bulldogs Close To Naming Their Starting RB

The chatter in Athens, GA this off-season was all about who was going to replace Knowshon Moreno at tailback. Many believed that Caleb King would be his heir apparent,  but sophomore Richard Samuel has other plans. Samuel has impressed the UGA coaching staff so much that they have named him the leader in the tailback race. Georgia coach Mark Richt said, “Richard is playing with a lot of energy, good stamina, and he goes hard,” Richt said Friday. “We hope...

Time Out

Georgia Bulldog coach Mark Richt, along with other members of his coaching staff will be taking some unexpected time off of work this football season. The state of Georgia’s economic issues have forced UGA to implement mandatory furlough days for school employees thus affecting the coaching staff. Coaches will have to take two furlough days in October and November. Fans in Athens were pretty riled up that their coaches will be losing two days of preperation in the heart of football...
