The Rotary Club of Houston announced the 12 semifinalists for the 42nd annual Rotary Lombardi Award (RLA) awarded to the best college football lineman or linebacker. There are eight defensive players and four offensive players who made this year’s cut. The RLA will be awarded on December 7, 2011 at the Reliant Center in Houston, Texas. The Beef O’Brady Bowl featuring Louisville and Southern Mississippi just got a little more interesting. Yesterday, during the informal Beach Bash dance competition at the Tradewinds Island Resort, a huge brawl almost ensued between the two teams. Bembry gets the pink slip

Marshall defensive back DeQuan Bembry has been dismissed from the football team following his fourth arrest since March of last year. His most recent run in with the law occurred this past Sunday when police arrested and charged him with DUI. Bembry along with T.J. Drakeford was also arrested on April 5th after an altercation at a Huntington, WV bar. Bembry was charged with assault on a police officer and underage consumption. He was serving a suspension for the April incident....

  Alonzo Lawrence was once a Parade All-American and the southeast region’s 8th ranked recruit according to the Mobile Press-Register.  In 2008 Lawrence signed a letter of intent and headed off to Tuscaloosa to play college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The University of Houston has announced plans to build a new football stadium to replace Houston’s current home of Robertson Stadium. The new stadium, which has yet to be named, will be placed on the same site as Robertson Stadium and is expected to cost around $120M to build. The Armed Forces Bowl has reached an agreement with Army that will pave the way for the Black Knights to play in the bowl game next season.
