Penn State received good news yesterday with LB Navorro Bowman getting the ok to play in this Saturday’s showdown with Iowa. He practiced with the team on Tuesday and participated in non-contact drills without a problem. Bowman led Penn State with 106 tackles last season and was selected as  a 1st team all Big-Ten LB. Penn State’s star linebacker Sean Lee sprained his knee in the second quarter of Saturday’s game against Temple. Lee stayed in the game until the fourth quarter but left favoring his left knee. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting that Lee is listed as doubtful for Saturday’s prime time showdown against Iowa, and it’s possible that he may be out for at least 2 weeks. Ohio State fans were treated to a visit from former astronaut John Glenn and his wife Annie. The two were awarded the rare honor of dotting the Ohio State Marching Band’s “i” during the halftime festivities. Penn St. and Indiana University have agreed to play a conference game in the Nation’s Capitol next season. The two will face off in a Big Ten contest at Washington’s FedEx Field on November 20th, 2010. The original game was to be played at Indiana but a nice 3 million dollar payout was enough to change IU’s mind. It seems as if Army and the Yankees are starting a new trend. ESPN reports that talks are underway between Northwestern and Illinois that would move their yearly game to Chicago’s Wrigley Field as early as next season.  Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald and Illinois’s Ron Zook are both optimistic and excited about the possibility of the change of venue. Iowa and Kirk Ferentz finalized contract paperwork on Monday giving the 53 year old head coach $3M a year for the next 7 years. In addition to his annual salary, Ferentz will also have access to a private plane that he can use for up to 35 hours a year. In 2008 he was the eighth highest paid Division 1 football coach.
