Iowa and Kirk Ferentz finalized contract paperwork on Monday giving the 53 year old head coach $3M a year for the next 7 years. In addition to his annual salary, Ferentz will also have access to a private plane that he can use for up to 35 hours a year. In 2008 he was the eighth highest paid Division 1 football coach. Ferentz is entering his 11th year as head coach of the Hawkeyes making him the second longest serving head coach in the Big Ten next to Penn State’s Joe Paterno. Last season Ferentz guided the Hawkeyes to a 9 win season that included a thrilling 24-23 victory over #3 Penn State and an Outback Bowl victory over South Carolina. He is 70-35 over the course of his career at Iowa.

God’s country, are you crazy? Im sorry boy Iowa is not god’s country. As for Ferentz, he is doing a great job over there. You are lucky to have signed him for so long.
I wish I had been able to see some comments, as I understand there were several negatives. No doubt the negatives were from ISU, LSU and SCU.
We true Hawkeyes appreciate the efforts of KF and what he has done. There are many places easier to recruit in I’ m certain, hence we do appreciate the effort that KF extracts from those who do make the wise choice to join those in Gods Country. Do you not remember “Field of Dreams”??? Is this heaven? No it’s Iowa. Have a nice day you critics.
Ferentz deserves every nickel, he knocked off PSU last season and crushed SC in the bowl game. Go IOWA!!!!
Wow, in these awesome economic times, it’s good to see somebody make some money by doing an OK job. Is he the highest paid State employee?

Zook’s contract is up for renewal, he should talk to Ferentz’s agent. Damn, that man got a deal.
