Iowa’s $21M dollar man

FerentzIowa and Kirk Ferentz finalized contract paperwork on Monday giving the 53 year old head coach $3M a year for the next 7 years. In addition to his annual salary, Ferentz will also have access to a private plane that he can use for up to 35 hours a year. In 2008 he was the eighth highest paid Division 1 football coach. Ferentz is entering his 11th year as head coach of the Hawkeyes making him the second longest serving head coach in the Big Ten next to Penn State’s Joe Paterno. Last season Ferentz guided the Hawkeyes to a 9 win season that included a thrilling 24-23 victory over #3 Penn State and an Outback Bowl victory over South Carolina. He is 70-35 over the course of his career at Iowa.
