Football at Wrigley?

Wrigley Field

It seems as if Army and the Yankees are starting a new trend. ESPN reports that talks are underway between Northwestern and Illinois that would move their yearly game to Chicago’s Wrigley Field as early as next season.  Northwestern’s Pat Fitzgerald and Illinois’s Ron Zook are both optimistic and excited about the possibility of the change of venue. Zook commented, “As you can tell, I would be very, very excited about having that opportunity,” Zook said. “And once again, it’s such a great atmosphere, and gosh, I know the hockey match with the attention that it drew, and I think it would be a great thing for all of us.”

Football games at Wrigley Field isn’t a new concept as the Chicago Bears played their home games there until the 1970 NFL season. Hopefully, both sides can work out an agreement soon. It would be a treat for the city of Chicago and college football fans alike.
