College Football’s Hypocrisy

In a college football world where we expect loyalty and commitment to teams from our student athletes, college football coaches are able to pick up and leave on a whim without any penalty. The double standard is glaring. This young off-season has seen more coaching twists from L.A. to Knoxville, than a One Tree Hill episode. Former Cincy coach Brian Kelly started the snowball effect which is now infull speed. Kelly had taken the Bearcats to a school best 12-0 season record and...

The drama in LA continues. Lane Kiffin has left the Tennessee Vols for the USC Trojans, a move that’s sending shock waves through the college football world. Kiffin just finished his first season at Tennessee going 7-6 and a Chick-fil-A bowl appearance. Kiffin will replace legendary coach Pete Carroll, who left USC this past weekend for the Seattle Seahawks. Kiffin previously coached at ‘SC from 2001-2006 and then left for the Oakland Raiders. Trojans lose some legs

The spotlight is still shining on the Trojans as a lot of questions remain unanswered in LALA land. As the team anxiously left the City of Angels to head for the Bay Area for this Saturday’s Emerald Bowl, four notable players did not make the journey. TE Anthony McCoy, T Tyron Smith, and DE Averell Spicer will all be hitting the books this weekend as the three are academically ineligible to play on the 26th. Tailback Joe McKnight is...

USC’s McKnight Under Investigation

USC tailback Joe McKnight is under investigation by the NCAA for a possible improper use of a vehicle violation. According to the L.A. Times,  McKnight has been driving a 2006 Land Rover for the past few weeks which has raised a few heads. Records indicate that the SUV is registered to Santa Monica businessman Scott Schenter. The NCAA has strict rules concerning student-athletes and gift/extra benefits, and it has no reservation with deeming an athlete ineligible if it is...

WR Williams on track to face UCLA

As SC tries to salvage their disappointing 2009 campaign, there is some good news coming out of Los Angeles. WR Damian Williams, who missed the blowout loss to Stanford with an ankle sprain, has been practicing with the team and all signs are pointing to his return. Pete Carroll will not officially announce his status until later in the week when SC faces UCLA. The Trojans are in bad need of an offensive spark and Williams in the line-up...

SC’s top WR is out

You wont see Southern California’s WR Damian Williams on the field this weekend against Stanford. His lingering right ankle injury will keep the high-powered receiver on the sidelines. The Trojan’s will certainly miss their leading receiver who has amassed 45 catches  for 688 yards and 5 TDs. Unfortunately for the Trojans, no receiver even comes close to his numbers. Joe McKnight is the closest with 17 catches. Their number 2 receiver Ronald Johnson will have to step-up and take...

Traveling Man

There was a time with Mitch Mustain was one of the most highly touted recruits in the country. He committed to Arkansasand people in Fayetteville thought that they’d see multiple national championships with him behind center. Mustain was one of the most decorated HS recruits in history winning the 2005 Gatorade, Parade, and USA Today player of the year awards. My how the times have changed. Fast forward four years and not only is Mustain not at Arkansas, but he’s so far back...

Wright Is Wrong

USC’s Shareece Wright is academically ineligible for the 2009 college football season. USC coach Pete Carroll broke the news Monday evening,“Shareece didn’t get it done. He didn’t get the GPA he needed to get.” Wright was expected to start at cornerback for the Trojans this season. He started in the first two games for USC last season but was forced to miss the rest of the year  after suffering a hairline fracture in his neck during practice the third...
