McKnight is still practicing even though his status is unclear for the Emerald Bowl

The spotlight is still shining on the Trojans as a lot of questions remain unanswered in LALA land. As the team anxiously left the City of Angels to head for the Bay Area for this Saturday’s Emerald Bowl, four notable players did not make the journey.

TE Anthony McCoy, T Tyron Smith, and DE Averell Spicer will all be hitting the books this weekend as the three are academically ineligible to play on the 26th. Tailback Joe McKnight is staying back to deal with his off the field issues regarding the SUV he has been seen driving around in Compton. However, there is a slim chance McKnight will play, but the school is still investigating his relationship with the Santa Monica business man who owns the vehicle.

These events are just another setback for Carroll and the Trojans who are coming off of their worst season since 2001 and ending the team’s impressive seven consecutive Pac-10 championships and seven consecutive BCS games.
