Caged Cougar freed

Was it alcohol, fornication, or both, who knows? In a surprising announcement yesterday, BYU’s leading rusher, Harvey Unga, is said to be withdrawing from the university for violating the school’s honor code. Coincidentally, Unga’s girlfriend and BYU basketball player, Keilani Moeaki, is also voluntarily withdrawing from the university for the same reason. The school’s honor code is very strict when it comes to alcohol, tobacco and premarital sex and any violation could result in strict sanctions. The two athletes...

OU didn’t steal my signs

OU didn’t steal my signs

There’s hope for Hope

Purdue’s Danny Hope was given a one-year contract extension that will keep him in West Lafayette through 2014. Hope was named Purdue’s head coach last summer when Joe Tiller decided to retire. Purdue’s athletic director Morgan Burke gave Hope a ringing endorsement: “Beginning with the day he returned to Purdue, Danny has followed a master plan for our football...

The Gophers catch a bad break

It looks like Minnesota’s secondary suffered a bad break this week. Junior safety Kim Royston broke his left leg during Tuesday’s practice when the team was running 7-on-7 drills. Doctors confirmed that he sustained a compound fracture in his lower leg. Royston will undergo a second round of surgery on Thursday which will sideline him indefinitely. The good news is coach Tim Brewster has faith that Royston will fully recover by fall training camp. As of now, the secondary...
