The most wonderful time of the year is here. It’s the moment that we’ve all waited 4 months for. The 2009/2010 college football bowl season begins today at 4:30PM with Fresno State and Wyoming meeting up in Albuquerque for the New Mexico Bowl. Fresno St. brings a 8-4 record into the game while Wyoming limps in after going 6-6 in the regular season. However, Cowboy fans are just happy to be there as Wyoming hasn’t been to a bowl since 2004 when they played UCLA in the Las Vegas Bowl. Sure this game won’t have many fireworks, but it’s bowl season, and that’s reason enough to celebrate.
After whetting your appetite with the New Mexico Bowl, be sure to feast on the prime time St. Petersburg Bowl. The Big East’s representative Rutgers (8-4) will play Conference USA’s Univ. of Central Florida (8-4) at the Tampa Bay Rays’ Tropicana Field in the two year old bowl. This should be a good matchup but UCF does not have a steady offense to compliment their top-10 defense. Rutgers has gone 4-2 in their last six games and almost pulled off an upset bid against West Virginia during the final game of the season.
Both games will be televised on ESPN with coverage starting at 4PM ET. Kick back, relax, and enjoy this year’s slate of bowl games.
