Who Can Prevent Jameis Winston From Winning A Second Heisman?

Last season, many people were surprised to see just how dominant of the quarterback Jameis Winston was as a redshirt freshman. Not only did he take over as a starter for the Florida State Seminoles, but he was able to lead them to a perfect season and the national spotlight. He was rewarded with the highest honor individually as he was named the Heisman Trophy winner in 2013. With a strong cast coming back to support him, many see...

Jim Mora enacts discipline, dismisses three Bruins

In Westwood, there is a new sheriff in town with UCLA Bruins head coach Jim L. Mora taking the reins of a once proud program. Mora stepped into the coaching spotlight when former head coach Rick Neuheisel was relieved of his duties after a four year stint with a paltry 21-28 overall record. Mora’s first act of change, dismissing three players for failing to meet the “standards that we expect every student-athlete to adhere to”. Redshirt sophomore defensive end...

Arizona streaker could face 18 months in jail

If you don’t know the name Jace Michael Lankow, he was the idiot who dressed up as an official and streaked during the final seconds of the half of the Arizona-UCLA game Thursday night. As a result of his impersonation and the ensuing chaos that led to two players ejected and multiple suspensions, he was booked into Pima County jail. Lankow was charged with criminal impersonation, a class 6 felony in the state of Arizona. Though he was released...

Oklahoma States’ aerial attack dominates Arizona

It’s getting a little warm in Tucson, Arizona, and I’m not talking about the weather.  Coach Mike Stoops got steamrolled last night at the hands of #9 Oklahoma State and Heisman hopeful Justin Blackmon, 37-14. Arizona’s offensive line, which boasts five new starters was able to protect QB Nick Foles (37/51, 398 yards, 1 TD) but failed to open holes for RB Keola Antolin (13 carries for 22 yards and 1 TD) which made the offense very one dimensional. ...

UCLA, Brehaut knocked out by smash-mouth Huskies

The hits just keep on coming for UCLA. During the 3rd quarter of last night’s loss to conference foe Washington, UCLA’s QB Richard Brehaut was leveled by safety Nate Williams after Brehaut was coming in for a slide. The play resulted in a helmet-to-helmet personal foul, but more importantly it ended the night for Brehaut. Brehuat tried to continue but he was suffering from concussion like symptoms that caused the team doctor to bench the dazed QB and forced Rick...

Three’s a charm for UCLA’s Marvray and Sheller

Life is not getting any easier for the UCLA Bruins. After an embarrassing defeat against Oregon last Thursday, the school just announced two offensive players have been suspended for one game. Wide receiver Ricky Marvray and offensive tackle Sean Sheller will both miss Saturday’s game against Arizona for violating team rules. The suspension comes down as the two Bruins tested positive in their latest drug screen test. What’s even more disturbing is this is their third failed drug test...

A Prince takes a knee

Not only did UCLA get embarrassed 60-13 by Oregon this past Thursday, but the Bruins got more bad news as they learned QB Kevin Prince will miss the remainder of the season after arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Prince missed the last two Bruins’ games before undergoing surgery this Saturday to repair the meniscus in his knee. Prince’s knee continued to bother him with pain and swelling after last month’s surprise upset win over Texas and team doctors...

Where are they now?: Sharmon Shah

For those of you outside of UCLA who aren’t familiar with the name Sharmon Shah, perhaps the name Karim Abdul-Jabbar brings back some memories. Karim, an LA native, was the featured RB for the UCLA Bruins from 1992 to 1995. During both the ‘94 and ‘95 seasons, he broke UCLA’s single season rushing record and was named MVP twice. Though he left UCLA with one year of eligibility remaining, he ranks third in the Bruins all-time rushing leaders list...
