Big East Sues Texas Christian University For $5 Million

The conference shuffle continues to get messy with the Big East suing Texas Christian University (TCU) seeking $5,000,000 for breach of contract.  On November 29, 2010, TCU agreed to leave the Mountain West Conference for the Big East.  This move was to take place before the 2012 football season.  In the contract, TCU agreed that if it failed to join the Big East by July 1, 2012 it would pay the conference $5,000,000.  TCU never joined the conference.  On October 11, 2011, TCU informed the Big East...

The Mountain West looks for a new image, goes boxy

Earlier today, the Mountain West Conference released a new logo and theme. Unfortunately, the logo and theme are about as unimaginative as the Conference’s new tagline “This is our Time” and nickname “The Rock.” The release, which was supposed to mark a new era for a Conference that has only been around for 13-years, is somewhat of a disappointment. The “This is or Time” tagline doesn’t really mean anything when the conference just lost BYU and Utah this year,...

The Big (East) Debacle

The Big East continues to sink further into the depths of irrelevance and the calls for the conference to lose its automatic qualifying bid grow louder and louder. As we are well into the college football season, there is no Big East team in the Top 25. The conference has failed miserably in its non-conference play boasting a combined record of 19-14, average at best. However, when you consider 9 out of the 19 wins came against DI-AA teams,...

U can’t touch this

From Miami’s opening TD drive to its aggressive defense, the Pittsburgh Panthers did not stand a chance of winning Thursday night’s game. The Hurricanes dominated on both sides of the ball trouncing the Panthers 31-3. Miami’s Jacory Harris wasn’t perfect as his tendency to throw interceptions haunted him again, but he did come out of Heinz Field the victor. Despite two picks, Harris was an impressive 21 of 32 for 2 TDs and 248 yards. Harris did give the...

New Message for Cardinals Johnny Patrick: no texting when with G/F

Louisville’s star CB Johnny Patrick was reminded today that you never argue with your girlfriend even if you know you are right. Back on June 27th, Patrick’s girlfriend slipped and fell while struggling to grab his cell phone to see his text messages. As a result of the fall, she hit a table injuring her knees and elbows. Despite the fit of domestic rage, Patrick contacted emergency personnel because he was concerned about her well-being. Upon arrival, his girlfriend...

WR Sterling Griffin breaks ankle

Skip Holtz and QB B.J. Daniels’ quest to lead the Bulls back to BCS prominence is becoming more of an impossibility as injuries continue to plague the team. The latest victim is sophomore WR Sterling Griffin who fractured and dislocated his right ankle during voluntary workouts on Monday. The prognosis for Griffin is at least 6-8 weeks plus recovery time to get back into playing shape. However, Holtz is confident Griffin will return to the field at some point during...

Q&A with former BC standout Nick Larkin

In 2003, DE Nick Larkin was forced to redshirt his freshman season as he was still recovering from an injury suffered while playing at Saint Xavier. Though he was unable to play that year, his passion for football and dedication to the game landed him back on the field in 2004. In a much anticipated debut, Larkin finally saw action as BC took the field against Ball State at Scheumann Stadium on September 2nd, 2004 in which BC won...
