TCF Bank Stadium to Open Dry

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are set to open their new football stadium, TCF Bank Stadium, come September 12, 2009, when coach Tim Brewster and company host the Air Force Falcons. This outdoor stadium is a vast improvement from the Metrodome with top notch facilities and great views from every seat. However, their may be a shortfall in revenue this season as the legislature enacted a ban on alcohol, making TCF Bank Stadium DRY. Coincidentally, as the ban was enacted, it has also been...

PSU LB Mauti down with a Knee Injury

The Nittany Lions are down a LB. Sophomore LB Michael Mauti may have torn his ACL during a scrimmage this past Sunday. The injury occurred at Beaver Stadium while Mauti was pursuing running back Brandon Beachum on a sweep play. Mauti went to cut after Beachum, and he tangled his knee causing the injury. Today, Mauti will go through further testing, to include an MRI, to determine his exact injury. If in fact it is a tear, Mauti will...

OSU’s Small Back on Team

Ohio State’s WR and PR Ray Small has been cleared to rejoin the team by coach Jim Tressel. However, Small is still in the doghouse and has a short leash around his neck primarily for his academic issues. Tressel has not given him all the privileges yet of being on the team and Small will not be partaking in the official team photo later this week. Hopefully, Small gets his act together so he can suit up and play. He...

Thou Shall Not Cut Class

JoePa is throwing down the gauntlet, sort of. He is fed up with CB A.J. Wallace‘s lack of effort when it comes to going to class.  To show he is serious, he is threatening to suspend Wallace for two games if his attendance does not improve. Now for most programs, this would be huge, but fortunately for Penn State, the suspension, if applied, would be against Akron and Syracuse, neither of which have an aerial assault worthy of concern....

Jordan breaks ankle

The Hawkeye’s secondary took a hit during preseason camp this past Wednesday. CB Jordan Bernstine (Jr. 5’11, 205 lbs.) broke his ankle during special teams drills. He will have surgery to repair the break and will likely miss the 2009 season. He is eligible to red-shirt, but this serves as a huge blow to a player who was so focused and determined to start. He was projected to be a back-up behind CB Shaun Prater, but during the off season,...

Not getting Rich

Michigan’s Rich Rodriguez is continuing to lose control of his team. Two more players have requested permission to transfer out of Michigan and to look into other football programs. LB Marell Evans (Jr. 6’3, 221 lbs.) and DT Vince Helmuth (6’1, 261 lbs.), both have put in their request to leave the team and explore other options. Both athletes are defensive studs who will certainly be missed by the team. Evans played 16 games during his Wolverine career and...

6 Months in Jail is not Enough to get Removed from MSU’s Program

Dantonio‘s Spartans are ranked #3 in the Big Ten and the team is struggling to find a new face in the running game. Currently, there are six young backs running for the job. However, it looks like another back is in the mix as the school reinstated sophomore Glenn Winston. As you recall, Winston was the RB who beat the snot out of a Michigan State hockey player, A.J. Sturges, who was hospitalized and is still recovering.  This beating earned Winston six months...

Ex-Lion becomes Scarlet Knight

It’s official. Ex-Penn State Nittany Lion recruit Darrell Givens (Fr. 6’1, 180 lbs.) was cleared and is academically eligible to enroll and play for Rutgers. Rutgers initially offered Givens a scholarship, but he elected to play for the Nittany Lions. Since he had academic issues, he was released by the Lions. Rutgers is getting a star CB in Givens, who hails from Indian Head, Maryland and was ranked #11 by scout.com. Givens should be suited up and ready for...
