Throwing up a prayer

Tim Tebow’s buzz right now is bigger than Barack Obama’s was on January 20th, 2009. The man could probably challenge Marco Rubio (R-FL), the current leader in the Florida Senate race, and win. However, it seems as if Tebow might have stepped on a few toes during testing at the 2010 NFL combine in Indianapolis earlier this month. According to Pro Football Talk, Tebow apparently offended another NFL hopeful during the administering of the Wonderlic Test. Before the test was handed...

The Gatornaughts Jumping Ship???

Fresh off the heels of a surprising blowout loss to Alabama, four Gators look to have their sights set on the riches of the NFL. According to a writer for the Gainesville Sun, The Pouncey  twins (Maurkice & Mike), reserve RB Chris Rainey, and semi-starter SS Ahmad Black all are considering bolting from Gainesville after this season. The four, affectionately called the Lakeland Gatornaughts, came to Florida from Lakeland High School after playing there together all four years for the Dreadnaughts.....

Florida player goes back to his roots

Florida’s All-American (not All-Academic) defensive end Carlos Dunlap did about the stupidest act one could do prior to the SEC championship game. Around 3:25 a.m. today, Gainesville police arrested Dunlap and booked him into the Alachua County jail on charges of DUI. Apparently, late Monday night, an eye-witness saw someone driving recklessly in the area. The police dispatched an officer into the area and subsequently found the parked Chrysler that matched the witnesses’ description stopped at a green light...

Demps’ neck injury wont keep him out

5’8 sophomore RB Jeff Demps was seen around Gainesville, FL wearing a neck brace. Demps injured his neck during Saturday’s 29-19 win over Mississippi State. Demps is one of the stronger offensive players on the not so productive Florida offense this season as he is second on the team with 457 rushing yards with 5 TDs. Though he was injured in Saturday’s game, the neck brace isn’t enough to keep Demps down. Coach Urban Meyer expects him to suit...

Blame Meyer for Tebow’s injury, no one else

Blame Meyer for Tebow’s injury, no one else

The entire Tim Tebow situation is appalling. The media is blowing this blame game way out of proportion as some are blaming the refs, the questionable hit, the coach, etc. The worst case of finger pointing I’ve seen to date is blaming the BCS for Tebow’s injury. When you look at the entire situation, there is only one person to blame, and that’s Coach Meyer. He is consumed by winning and consumed by winning with the son he never...

A King gets crushed

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that Georgia RB Caleb King fractured his jaw and suffered a concussion in last Saturday’s loss to the LSU Tigers. At first, the severity of his injury was either not known or overlooked as King continued to play after taking the injury causing hit. In fact, coach Mark Richt  will play King this Saturday against Tennessee if he gets a medical clearance. Both Richt and Meyer (Meyer wants Tebow to play against LSU) are anxious...

Tebow is back on the field

The Matador isn’t sure what’s going on down in Gainsville, but Tim Tebow has returned to practice, albeit on a limited basis. Though he hasn’t been officially cleared, he is slowly going through the motions as if he is going to play this Saturday against top rated LSU. Today, Tebow was in full pads and was throwing passes with the first team. Although, he did have a non-contact jersey which is typically worn by QBs. Even if the NCAA...

Why leave sunny Florida?

Jacksonville.com reports that Florida consistently refuses to play stronger out of conference teams unlike other SEC powerhouses. For example, in 2005, Arkansas played at SoCal and Tennessee played at Cal in 2007 and then at UCLA in 2008. Georgia took the long distance flight to Arizona State last season and this season LSU traveled to Washington. Next season, Alabama is playing a home-and-home against Big 10 powerhouse Penn State. SEC schools are scheduling difficult non-conference BCS opponents, but it...
