Tim Tebow’s buzz right now is bigger than Barack Obama’s was on January 20th, 2009. The man could probably challenge Marco Rubio (R-FL), the current leader in the Florida Senate race, and win. However, it seems as if Tebow might have stepped on a few toes during testing at the 2010 NFL combine in Indianapolis earlier this month.
According to Pro Football Talk, Tebow apparently offended another NFL hopeful during the administering of the Wonderlic Test. Before the test was handed out, Tebow took the floor and asked that the other football players in the room bow their heads and pray. This gesture was met with displeasure by one of the players in the room who suggested that Tebow “shut the f*ck up.” Others in the room took delight in the jab and laughed.
There is nothing wrong with Tebow and his faith, but people don’t take too kindly when others try to push their faith and beliefs off on them. Just because on thing works for you doesn’t automatically mean that it will work for someone else. Tebow’s celebrity at Florida gave him a bit of an immunity against public attacks against him and his faith. Now that he’s out from under the protection of UF and Urban Meyer, he will be exposed and scrutinized much more heavily nationally.
Just in case you’re curious, Tebow scored an underwhelming 22 out of 50 on the Wonderlic test. For all you non-math majors out there, that’s 44%. Apparently the good Lord had other more pressing issues to attend to during the time of the test.
