Savege will start against Howard
In an attempt to save the face of the program, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano is benching Dom Natale, and will start true freshman Tom Savage as quarterback. Against Cincinnati, Natale, a 5th year senior, went 8 for 12 with 3 INTs in the first half compared to Savage, who played the 2nd half, and went 15 for 23 with 1 TD and 0 INTs.
Rutgers’ next two games are against Howard and Texas Southern, both of which will be good tests for the true freshman. Let’s hope Savage can perform well. If not, the fan base, and most importantly the boosters, will start to lose their patience and will put Schiano on the hot seat.
