Arizona and Nevada Headline the Gildan New Mexico Bowl

With 70 out of 124 teams filling the 35 bowl slots, the bowl season is set to kick-off this Saturday with the Gildan New Mexico Bowl.  Though it is anticipated to be a sparse crowd, those who attend the game will undoubtedly see a high scoring affair. The Arizona Wildcats (7-5, 4-5) and Nevada Wolf Pack(7-5, 4-4) will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the 7th annual Gildan New Mexico Bowl.  This bowl game has the makings of a high-scoring...

Extra Extra: Get your RichRod apparel this weekend!

With the ousting of former Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez, the ole ball coach wants to rid his closet of all maize and blue memories. Apparently, Rodriguez donated 12 Hefty sized bags of Wolverine apparel to a Detroit-area Salvation Army store which will sell and/or auction items in a Coach’s Closet tent sale this Saturday. The 12 bags consist of over 432 items of Michigan swagger ranging from medium to XL sizes to include hats, t-shirts, and jackets. So...

Steven Threet finally gets the stage

ASU’s Steven Threet will take the field as starting quarterback for the first time in nearly two years when Arizona State opens their season against Portland State this Saturday. Threet has been somewhat of a gypsy throughout his collegiate football career. The 6’4, 240 lb., redshirt junior has played for three division 1 programs since graduating high school in 2006. He originally committed and enrolled at Georgia Tech before transferring to Michigan. Threet started in eight games for the Wolverines in 2008 but was less...

CB Troy Woolfolk calls out QB Tate Forcier

Last season when Tate Forcier led the Wolverines in a last second game-winning drive over Notre Dame, it was announced that “a star was born.” Since that victorious September afternoon, Tate Forcier has done nothing for the program to exemplify that cry. At this year’s Big 10 media day, senior cornerback Troy Woolfolk called out the Wolverine’s signal caller for failing to be a leader off the field and failing to show that he deserves to be the starter....

Is Kirk Ferentz the most overrated coach in college football?

When the topic of overrated college football coaches comes up, names such as Jim Tressel, Mark Richt, Rich Rodriguez and Les Miles are often tossed around. Out of these four coaches, two, (Tressel and Miles) have a BCS National Championship trophy to show. However, Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz is rarely mentioned in such conversations. Why is this? I get that he and Iowa have always been media darlings, and I understand his Hawkeyes have been the proverbial fly in the ointment for Penn State...

A Michigan legend steps down

A Michigan legend is stepping down from the Wolverines’ front office. Lloyd Carr announced yesterday that  he is retiring as the school’s athletic director effective September 1, 2010. Carr put in over 30 years of service in Ann Arbor, but was most notably recognized for his success as a head coach winning five Big 10 titles and one national championship (’97). He compiled a 122-40 record during his tenure. In 2008, after a thrilling Capital One Bowl victory over the...

It’s win or go home for Rich Rodriguez

The single hottest coaching seat in college football burns in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Head coach Rich Rodriguez enters his 3rd and perhaps final season as the Maize and Blue commander-in-chief. Unfortunately, it has not been all glitz and glamour for a coach who took the West Virginia Mountaineers to their greatest success in school history. If the 2009 season is any indication of what is to come, Rodriguez better pack his bags and update his resume. Last season, he...

The Cardinals nab top recruit Damer Dorsey who was unable to gain admittance to the University of Michigan

Highly recruited five star athlete Demar Dorsey has finally found a home that will accept him and his legal and academic issues. The 6’1, 175 lb Boyd Anderson High School star will be showing off his speed at the University of Louisville come 2010. Dorsey originally gave his verbal commitment to the University of Florida; however, his cousin and Wolverine QB Denard Robinson convinced him to come to Ann Arbor. Dorsey agreed and signed a letter of intent with U of...
